Entelligent’s latest patent solidifies company’s position as leader in climate risk innovation and the essential resource for climate compliance

Boulder, Colorado, July 18, 2023 — Entelligent® today announced issuance of U.S. Patent No. 11,694,269 directed to the T-Risk methodology and prediction system for financial risk management and investing. An independent climate data provider based in Boulder, Colo., Entelligent supports asset managers and other financial institutions in their efforts to achieve sustainability goals while gaining a performance advantage.

The T-Risk patent was granted as market participants around the world find themselves challenged in their efforts to achieve and validate sustainable investing policies amid persistent skepticism and a steadily rising tide of global disclosure rules. As many providers vie to meet users’ needs, Entelligent’s latest patent is testimony to its unique technologies.

Entelligent’s new patent builds on and strengthens the protections of the company’s 2019 patent, U.S. Patent No. 10,521,863, for its Smart Climate® methodology, the platform underlying much of the intellectual property developed since its founding.

Entelligent cofounder and chief executive Tom Stoner said: “We’re proud to see our analytics continue to gain such strong validation. It’s a credit to the extraordinary team of data and climate scientists, economists and financial markets experts who have designed models with distinctive predictive power and relevance.”

Among other things, Entelligent’s patents make the company the essential player in climate compliance. Both patents specifically cover the use of scenario modeling as required in most regulatory standards (including the TCFD’s recommendations, the EU’s SFDR, and the Federal Reserve’s CSA). And because Entelligent’s IP is patent-protected, the company can readily support the show-your-work transparency disclosure rules demand.

The T-Risk patent covers systems and methodologies that generate climate transition risk metrics by applying defined energy factors to historical financial information for securities; performs statistical analyses using those factors to project securities’ performance across selected climate scenarios; and calculates the spread between the two projections to provide a risk metric.

The Smart Climate patent covers systems and methodologies that use climate and energy scenarios to simulate energy sources’ impact on securities and generate return data for a security or basket of securities.

About Entelligent:

Entelligent is a pure play climate data and analytics company with a patented technology that analyzes forward-looking climate scenario models to improve risk-adjusted returns for investors. Entelligent was the first company to be granted a patent over the use of climate scenario analysis in climate-risk assessment for security selection and other financial products. Its analytics address the lack of clear, standard metrics that provide a roadmap for effective climate risk investing, while allowing the capital markets to make a positive impact on climate change. Entelligent’s Smart Climate® suite — including the T-Risk® transition and physical risk score, the E-Score and Smart Climate Carbon Accounting — offers asset managers and other financial institutions a comprehensive toolset for climate risk management, regulatory compliance and alpha discovery.
