Taipei, Sept. 25, 2023 — Taipei Exchange (TPEx), FactSet and Entelligent today launched the first three indices within the groundbreaking TPEx FactSet Smart Climate Index Series.

The indices are the result of a collaboration whose mission is to empower the growing community of investors who aim to support a sustainable future while maintaining portfolio growth.

The new indices’ real-time calculation and dissemination began on Sept. 25, 2023, and include:

  • TPEx FactSet Climate Resilience Index (IX0201)
  • TPEx FactSet Semiconductor Climate Resilience Index (IX0202)
  • TPEx FactSet Semiconductor Climate Net Zero Elite Index (IR0203).

TPEx FactSet Smart Climate Index Series is Taiwan’s first pure climate benchmark and index series. The exchange expects the initiative to lead to the development and launch of numerous related Exchange Traded Products (ETPs), offering investors an innovative and powerful toolkit to incorporate sustainability considerations into their portfolios.

The series kickoff comes as the world confronts the significance of climate change and the role the business and investment communities can play in preparing for the transition to a low-carbon future. The International Sustainability Standards Board recently released S1 and S2 communiqués recommending climate disclosure standards, which were adopted by Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission in its 2026 convergence target. The overall goal of these standards is to urge listed companies to confront climate change.

Taipei Exchange, a non-profit exchange in Taiwan, sees the TPEx FactSet Smart Climate Index Series as a social responsibility and plans to promote it actively. Edith Lee, CEO at Taipei Exchange said, “With this initiative, we hope all stakeholders gain insight into climate transition risk, and thereby become contributors by reshaping new climate-aware portfolios that are truly invested the future.”

“Entelligent is proud to partner with Taipei Exchange and FactSet on the launch of the TPEx Smart Climate Index Series,” said Entelligent co-founder and chairman David Schimel, PhD., a scientist and Nobel laureate. “As Taiwan reevaluates its corporate priorities, this initiative will help blaze the trail, empowering investors to make informed decisions that balance sustainability and growth.”

Jeremy Zhou, Head of Index Solutions at FactSet, said: “We are thrilled to introduce a new chapter of sustainable investing right here in Taiwan with Taipei Exchange and Entelligent. The launch of these smart climate indices series will offer a stronger variety of choices for investors to incorporate climate transition risks and opportunities into their portfolios.”
